Restraint? In politics? That's Mitt Romney's dream, anyway. The GOP hopeful called for religious tolerance while speaking at the Values Voters Summit on Saturday after Texas pastor Robert Jeffress—who backs Texas Gov. Rick Perry—described Mormonism as “a cult” and “not Christian.” The Perry camp has distanced itself from the comments. Romney fired back Sunday: “Our values ennoble the citizen and strengthen the nation. We should remember that decency and civility are values too.” He also said, “We must continue to welcome faith into the public square and allow it to flourish. Our government should respect religious values, not silence them.”
