This isn’t the first time we’ve heard this. Bud Selig, who has teased his retirement in the past—he previously stated he’d call it quits after the 2009 and 2012 seasons—will formally announce his plans to reire after the 2014 season Thursday. Selig, who has been the commissioner of Major League Baseball for 21 years, will hold the second-longest tenure in the position. Selig oversaw changes in the sport such as expanded playoffs and interleague play. What's next? The 79-year-old has mentioned the idea of teaching and writing a memoir.
