Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton declared a state of emergency Thursday over a strain of avian bird flu that has killed more than 2.5 million turkeys. The highly pathnogenic H5N2 strain of bird flu has been found on 46 farms in 16 counties across the state, and for the first time was discovered at a chicken farm this week. The strain has also led to the exterination of more than 7.3 million birds in the country. No human infections have been reported and officials said the risk is low.
