A Missouri police officer has been left paralyzed from the neck down after he was shot during a routine traffic stop on July 8, St. Louis police say. Officer Michael Flamion suffered "catastrophic damage to his spinal cord" after being shot in the neck from behind, according to Ballwin Police Chief Kevin Scott. The shooter, identified as Antonio Taylor, has been arrested for the attack and faces charges of first-degree assault of a law enforcement officer. The shooting came just one day after five police officers were gunned down at a protest in Dallas, and amid nationwide protests against recent police shootings.
