Mom Shoots Escaped Murder Suspect

Who was holding family hostage.

A murder suspect who escaped from a Mississippi jail a week ago was reportedly shot by the mother of a family he held hostage for several hours Thursday. Rafael Arnez McCloud allegedly forced his way into the home of a family of three around 4 a.m. with a knife. He kept the homeowner, his wife, and their 5-year-old son bound in a bathroom for several hours—but, at some point, the homeowner fought back. He was stabbed in the shoulder by McCloud, but his wife was able to grab a gun and shoot the intruder, then cut her husband’s bonds. Her husband reportedly then took control of the gun and fired several more rounds. Police said they found McCloud’s body in a bathtub with multiple gunshot wounds.
