The mother of one of the alleged victims of Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky said Friday that her son “lived in fear” after reported abuse. “I’m infuriated,” said the woman, whose son is referred to in the grand-jury report as “Victim 1.” “Even if I had the slightest inclination that anything inappropriate was going on it should have been reported, or at least brought to my attention.” Meanwhile, assistant coach Matt McQueary has been benched from Saturday’s Penn State game after receiving death threats. According to a grand-jury report, McQueary witnessed Jerry Sandusky in the shower with a 10-year-old boy, and notified head coach Joe Paterno instead of calling police. Former head coach Joe Paterno has reportedly contacted a criminal-defense attorney for his alleged role in covering up the abuse, and Sens. Pat Toomey and Bob Casey have rescinded their nomination of the legendary coach for the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
