Elizabeth Escalona, the 23-year-old mother who glued her daughter’s hands to the wall, has been sentenced to 99 years in prison. The Texas mom—who assaulted her own mother at the age of twelve—was arrested in September 2011 after her daughter was found in a coma with the skin torn off of her hands. The horrific beating to then two-year-old Jocelyn Cedillo was allegedly punishment for a potty-training slip-up. Prosecutors portrayed her in court this week as a “monster,” forcing her to look at graphic images of her daughter’s brutally beaten body. “Ms. Escalona, if you can do it, you can look at it,” prosecutor Eren Price yelled.
