Monster Bluefin Tuna Sells for $1.8 Million in First Tokyo Toyosu Fish Market of 2020

A massive 608-pound blue-fin tuna sold for $1.8 million in the first auction of 2020 at Tokyo’s Toyosu fish market on Sunday, marking the second highest selling fish ever sold on record. The pricey fish was sold to Kiyoshi Kimura, who holds the record for the most money ever paid for a fish at more than $3 million, which he purchased last year. He runs a sushi restaurant chain called Sushizanmai. The tuna was caught off the northern coast of Aomori Prefecture.
