By now, word is out that the RNC spent almost $2,000 on a bondage-and-lesbian themed nightclub featuring topless women dancers. But now, Red County has found out why. The evening started out with a dinner of 50 people at the Beverly Hill Hotel, reports Red County, then ended at Voyeur, the bondage-themed club. Erik Brown, the president of Dynamic Marketing Inc. and a direct-mail operator, picked up the tab, sources say. He is reportedly a "Young Eagle," a donor to the party under a certain age, and the event was aimed at recruiting more Young Eagles. Michael Steele did not attend any part of the evening, but nevertheless is facing criticism for the RNC's spending in general. The organization has outspent what it raised in nine of the past 12 months. A former press secretary to Robert Dole said, “Michael Steele needs to resign and let the RNC vote in a man or woman who understands that his or her needs do not come before the needs of the nation or the party.” A longtime GOP donor said the spending makes Steele look tone deaf.
