More Than 30 Dead in Indian Bus-Train Crash

A horrific crash in India’s northern state of Uttar Pradesh has left at least 33 dead. Officials said a packed bus attempted to cross an express track at about 2 a.m. Thursday as a train was approaching. The train struck the bus, killing dozens and leaving at least 17 injured. Pictures from the scene show little remaining of the bus. India’s rail network is a linchpin of the country’s transport system, which is charged with moving its more than 1 billion citizens, but it also has a reputation for danger, with more than 100 train accidents in each of the last two fiscal years.
