Movie ticket sales plunged to $55 million between Friday and Sunday—the lowest level in two decades—as some Americans avoided crowds during the growing coronavirus crisis. Many movie theaters capped seating at 50 percent to conform with social distancing recommendations, but it appears many movie fans just stayed home. Variety reports that the only flick to make more than $10 million was Disney-Pixar’s Onward, but that was a drop of 73 percent from its opening weekend.
