MTV’s 2010 Video Music Awards, which airs Sunday night, has already broken records. Lady Gaga became the artist with the most nominations in a single year in the show’s 26-year history—13 on her own and 18 including her collaborations with Beyoncé on “Video Phone” and “Telephone.” Trailing behind Gaga with eight nods is Emimen, who will also perform, and Best New Artist nominee Justin Bieber, who’ll likely earn a lot of attention when he takes the stage, whether he wins or loses. Fellow nominees Usher, Jason DeRulo, Paramore, B.o.B, Bruno Mars, Swizz Beatz, and Florence and the Machine have all also been tapped to dazzle the L.A. crowd at the Nokia Theater. But the most anticipated performance will likely come from a non-nominee, Kanye West, who will grab the mic for some pre-planned show stopping this year. Here’s to hoping Best Female Video nominee Taylor Swift will finally get to give the acceptance speech the rapper so rudely interrupted last year. See how she and the other artists measure up this year!
