Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was sentenced Wednesday to three years in prison for corruption. Mubarak, who was president of Egypt from 1981 until his ousting in the Arab Spring in 2011, has been under house arrest since last August. His sons, Alaa and Gamal, each received sentences of four years for embezzling $17.9 million in government funds. The sentence for Mubarak comes just days before the presidential election begins in Egypt.
