Mubarak’s Spy Chief Runs in Egypt

The Egyptian presidential race grew more contentious Sunday as the Muslim Brotherhood’s candidate took aim at his establishment rival. Omar Suleiman served as Hosni Mubarak’s intelligence chief before the Egyptian revolution swept the regime from power, and now he’s running for president himself. “I consider his entry an insult to the revolution and the Egyptian people,” said Khairat al-Shater, who was nominated by the Muslim Brotherhood March 31. “He will only win through forgery and, if this happens, the revolution will kick off again.”
