Now that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has stepped down, the Swiss government has begun its standard procedure for deposed leaders: freezing their accounts. The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs said it has frozen all funds belonging to Mubarak and “his circles” in order “to avoid any risk of embezzlement of Egyptian state property.” Mubarak is believed to be extremely wealthy, but estimates of his net worth vary widely.
