Leaked U.S. diplomatic cables revealed by WikiLeaks claim that Zimbabwe’s dictatorial president Robert Mugabe has prostate cancer and is expected to die within two years. The 87-year-old Mugabe was reportedly diagnosed in 2008, and he allegedly told James McGee, former U.S. ambassador to Harare, about his disease in June of that year. There have been persistent rumors that Mugabe was ill, and as unpopular as he is, there are fears that his death could lead rival factions to violently battle for power.
