Despite his nation's myriad ills, Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe will throw himself a lavish birthday bash near his home village today, where they will sacrifice $150,000 worth of livestock. "In a normal country this kind of party would not be taking place in this kind of environment where so many people have no food," said political analyst John Makumbe. “This kind of celebration, amid so much suffering by so many, is obscene and a sign of an insensitive leadership." Zimbabwe faces massive unemployment, collapsing infrastructure, a deadly cholera outbreak and hyperinflation figures in the millions. Mugabe is turning 85.
