Muhammad Ali passed away late Friday evening. The legendary boxer had been hospitalized Thursday for what was originally characterized as a "brief stay" for a respiratory illness. Over the course of 24 hours, the situation began to worsen as family members came to the Phoenix hospital to gather by his bedside. The boxer battled Parkinson's disease for three decades and had been hospitalized multiple times over recent years. He was 74 years old.
