Muhammad Event’s Attackers Had Assault Rifles, Body Armor
The two men who attacked the Draw Muhammad event in Garland, Texas, had assault rifles and body armor. The men drove up to a rear entrance at the event space and exited their vehicle when they were confronted by a police officer and an unarmed security guard. The officer killed both gunmen with his pistol. One of the guards patrolling the entrance was shot in the lower leg and has since been released from the hospital. Police said the gunmen’s vehicle had luggage but no explosives. Police would not release the gunmen’s names, but one has been identified by the press as Elton Simpson of Arizona.
