Three people, including two former Auburn University football players, died after a shooting in an Auburn, Ala., apartment complex late Saturday. Law enforcement put the complex in lockdown after the shooting. Sources familiar with the case told a local paper that Ed Christian and Ladarious Phillips died in the shooting, and that current Auburn player Eric Mack was sent to the hospital. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution quoted a witness who claimed to be at the party where the shooting took place and said it started as a scuffle over a girl. The University Heights apartment complex where the shooting took place reportedly houses many of the school’s athletes. Auburn has a student body of more than 25,000. Police named 22-year-old Desmonte Leonard as a suspect in the shooting, issuing a warrant for his arrest on three counts of murder and launching a massive manhunt for Leonard.
