A large apartment building collapsed in central Mumbai on Monday night, with at least 20 people believed to be trapped inside, according to officials. The latest disaster comes just two months after a seven-story building collapsed on the city’s outskirts, killing 74 people and underscoring unsafe construction standards in India, where the high demand for housing has led to fewer safety inspections and cost-cutting.
