Murdoch Admits Regrets to Staff

Says he’s “working hard to put things right.”

Rupert Murdoch sent out a memo to News Corp. staff on Tuesday after Britain’s Culture, Media, and Sport Committee declared him “not a fit person to exercise the stewardship of a major international company” in a report released earlier in the day. “It is difficult to read many of the report’s findings,” Murdoch said in his letter. “But we have done the most difficult part, which has been to take a long, hard and honest look at our past mistakes. He continued: “We certainly should have acted more quickly and aggressively to uncover wrongdoing. We deeply regret what took place and have taken our share of responsibility for not rectifying the situation sooner.”
