Thursday’s dose of News Corp. intrigue: According to an upcoming article in Vanity Fair, Elisabeth Murdoch urged her father Rupert to make her brother James “step aside” from his responsibilities at the company. Rupert apparently almost listened, telling James “maybe you should go” before he changed his mind the next morning. Elisabeth also is said to have pushed for the resignations of Rebekah Brooks and Les Hinton for their roles in the News of the World phone-hacking scandal. The article also claims that Murdoch’s children attended group therapy to help figure out who would take over the company eventually.
