The former editor of Rupert Murdoch’s News of the World, Andy Coulson, has been found guilty of conspiracy to intercept voicemails in the phone hacking scandal that rocked Britain. Prime Minister David Cameron apologized for employing Coulson as his head of communications once he had resigned from News Corp. Rebekah Brooks, the former News International chief executive, was cleared of all charges. On the 138th day of the trial, a jury found her not guilty of conspiracy to hack voicemails, two counts of conspiracy to pay public officials, and two counts of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. Brooks was reportedly so overcome with emotion she had to be taken away by the court matron.
