Rupert Murdoch was hospitalized with a “serious back injury” while vacationing in the Caribbean in early January, according to Vanity Fair. Murdoch, whose holdings include the Wall Street Journal and Fox News, injured his back while on his son Lachlan’s yacht. Murdoch, 86, reportedly had to be “helicoptered off the boat” and spent time recovering in a Los Angeles hospital until recently. Last week, he sent out an email to his top executives at 21st Century Fox informing them that he’ll be working from home for “weeks.” Murdoch’s injury comes after it was announced that Disney plans to buy various 21st Century Fox film and television assets.
