Take a good, long look at those red carpet photos from this year’s Met Costume Institute Gala. Because next year—if there’s even still a carpet—there will likely be fewer stars walking on it. With 169 employees laid off from the Met last week, insiders say next year’s Vogue-run event will be a lot less boldfaced, as fashion houses won’t be able to buy tables and fly expensive dresses overseas. It’ll be the spotlight-seekers with a few dollars to spare (read: un-famous rich people) who’ll likely scoop up next year’s tickets. And with veteran Vogue event planner Stephanie Winston Wolkoff departing the magazine, the big night may get a lot less splashy. What’s Anna Wintour to do?
