N. Korea Fires Shots Across Border

Hours after North Korea promised to retaliate against its neighbor to the south, soldiers from the Communist nation fired two rounds across the border. South Korean troops immediately answered with fire of their own. It is unclear whether North Korea’s shots were intentional or accidental, but they seemed to be aimed at a South Korean guard post in the Demilitarized Zone. There were no reported casualties. Earlier, South Korea had rejected a North Korean proposal for military talks.
