After a successful launch on Friday, NASA’s new Orion spacecraft has splashed down in the Pacific Ocean after it managed to hit the high point of 3,600 miles above Earth. That is the farthest a spacecraft built for humans has traveled in four decades. At one point, it was chugging along above Earth at 15,000 mph. While today’s test launch was unmanned, the hope is that crewed missions to Mars will be possible by 2021. The original launch date, set for Thursday, had been scrapped due to weather and engine issues.
