As L.A. police reopen the strange case of Natalie Wood—the actress who drowned in 1981—the man who found her body off Catalina Island says he believes there was no foul play. Doug Bombard told the Daily Mail that “it's a bad idea that Robert [Wagner’s] family has to deal with it again.” A supposed witness, however, also told the Mail for the first time that she heard screaming on that night, and that she tried to report Wood’s “last desperate cries for help.” Police say they have “substantial new evidence” in the case. Wagner, Wood’s widower, maintains that she accidentally fell off the boat.
