NATO Allies Reject Libya Cease-Fire

Clinton: We’re “not impressed by words.”

It’s not going to be as easy as just declaring a no-fly zone and having Col. Muammar Gaddafi surrender. The U.S., Britain, and France are going ahead with their action against the Libyan leader after rejecting his cease-fire. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Friday the U.S. would not be responsive or "impressed by words.” The allies would “have to see actions on the ground, and that is not yet at all clear.” British Prime Minister David Cameron said preparations to deploy warplanes are already under way, and that Britain will judge Gaddafi “by his actions, not his words.” Shortly after the U.N. passed a resolution authorizing “all necessary measures” against Gaddafi, he said he would halt all military operations.
