Protesters said on Tuesday that the White House’s decision on Monday to move the G8 summit from Chicago to Camp David won’t change their plans to protest in the city this spring. A major NATO meeting is still scheduled to take place in Chicago over the same period, and organizers say they anticipate tens of thousands to turn out for the rally. “Guess what? The protests are going to happen anyway because if [protesters] are upset about G8, they have just as much reason to be upset about NATO,” said Andy Thayer, a protest planner and Chicago activist. The Obama administration said that the meeting of the Group of Eight was moved to the secluded presidential retreat to “facilitate a free-flowing discussion with our close G8 partners.”
