Navy officials have identified the 12 victims of Monday’s rampage at the Washington Navy Yard. The victims were Michael Arnold, 59; Sylvia Frasier, 53; Kathy Gaarde, 62; John Roger Johnson, 73; Frank Kohler, 50; Bernard Proctor, 46; Vishnu Pandit, 61; Martin Bodrog, 54; Mary Francis Knight, 51; Gerald L. Read, 58; Richard Michael Ridgell, 52; and Arthur Daniels, 51. Daniels’s son, Arthur Jr., told The Washington Post that he is struggling to “understand why.” “All he did was go to work. That was his only crime,” Daniels said. D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray said another eight people were injured, though earlier numbers had pinpointed the number wounded at 14. Three people were shot, and another five had stress-related injuries. The gunman also died in the struggle.
