NBA Ref Comes Out After Player Calls Him ‘F*ggot’

A top NBA referee revealed Sunday night that he is gay after Sacramento Kings star Rajon Rondo was suspended one game for making homophobic slurs against the official. “I am proud to be an NBA referee and I am proud to be a gay man,” Bill Kennedy told Yahoo Sports on Sunday night. “I am following in the footsteps of others who have self-identified in the hopes that will send a message to young men and women in sports that you must allow no one to make you feel ashamed of who you are.” During a Dec. 3 game in Mexico City, Kennedy ejected Rondo, who then went on a homophobic tirade, allegedly shouting: “You’re a fuckin’ faggot, Billy.”
