For most East Londoners, the Olympics are something far off, only to be seen through a fence—yet, in anticipation of the Games, a sense of excitement has gripped the hardscrabble area. For this photographer, not having any credentials, I went to see what the "real" Londoners saw: Olympic lanes, overwhelming crowds, global corporate sponsorship and an occasional celebrity. But one thing was for sure—a much needed sense of pride in all things British was thriving again in the East End of London.
