Neighbors in a Santa Cruz community say they are shocked that a "sweet" teenager has been arrested for the murder of an 8-year-old girl. California police said late Monday that a body found in a dumpster is believed to be that of a girl who went missing Sunday. The body was found inside an enclosed area of the Santa Cruz apartment complex where Madyson “Maddy” Middleton was last seen riding her scooter with friends, police said. They then arrested a 15-year-old boy who lives in the same apartment complex in connection to the homicide, Santa Cruz Police Chief Kevin Vogel said. “We have evidence that ties our suspect directly to Maddy,” he said.
