Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu argued before the UN General Assembly on Monday that Hamas and ISIS were “branches of the same poisonous tree.” While Hamas’s “immediate goal is to destroy Israel,” said Netanyahu, it “has a wider goal the same as" ISIS’s. "Militant Islam spares no one, no faith and no ethnic group," he said. Netanyahu also warned the General Assembly about working too closely with Iran in the fight against ISIS. "To defeat ISIS and leave Iran as a threshold nuclear power is to win the battle and lose the war," he said.
