Long seen as a thorn in the side of the Obama administration, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had rare supportive words for the president in an interview with Jeffrey Goldberg. Speaking about Syria, Netanyahu called President Obama’s last-minute decision to hold off on a military strike and negotiate for the destruction of chemical weapons “the one ray of light in a very dark region.” Netanyahu also denied reports that Israel is engaged in aggressive spying in the U.S. “Israel has not conducted any espionage operations in the United States, period. Full stop,” he said.
