Netflix has canned Luke Cage after two seasons, and just days after axing another Marvel series, Iron Fist. “Unfortunately, Marvel’s Luke Cage will not return for a third season,” the streaming service announced in a joint statement with Marvel on Friday. “Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series,” the statement said. The move reportedly blindsided some of the show’s writers who had already begun preparing for a third season. While fans of the Harlem Hero expressed outrage over the cancellation on social media, sources cited by Deadline said “creative differences” were ultimately to blame.
