Don’t sweat it if you don’t know where to begin when you open your new e-reader from Santa. Book publishers are starting advertising promotions that begin on Dec. 25th—aimed at those who open up their new gadgets on Christmas morning and want to get reading immediately. Random House has even created an e-book called “The eBook Insider,” full of recommendations, reviews and book. The book will be available for free, and the publishing house will advertise it through social media, Google ads, and print spots in The New York Times Book Review and The New Yorker. Anne Messitte, the publisher of Random House division Vintage / Anchor, called Christmas day the “ideal moment” to advertise to e-readers.
