HBO’s gritty crime drama True Detective has gotten the final go-ahead for a third season, which will star Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali as a state police detective investigating a gruesome case in the Ozarks. Jeremy Saulnier will direct the season alongside the show’s creator and writer, Nic Pizzolato, who is due to make his directorial debut. Pizzolato has also reportedly joined forces with Deadwood creator David Milch to write one of the season’s episodes. A premiere date has not yet been announced, but five scripts are already set to go.
