New ‘Hamilton’ Leads Announced

Taking over as Hamilton and Burr this summer.

The new cast members of Broadway smash hit Hamilton were announced Wednesday morning by producer Jeffrey Seller. Following the show’s creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda’s departure this summer, his alternate, Javier Muñoz, will take over the titular character role, with Broadway newcomer Michael Luwoye joining as Muñoz’s alternate. Additionally, replacing Tony-winning co-star Leslie Odom, Jr. in the role of Aaron Burr is Brandon Victor Dixon, who has been twice nominated for Tony Awards for his turns in The Color Purple and Shuffle Along. Lexie Lawson will join the cast as Eliza Hamilton, marking her return to Miranda-written Broadway shows, as she previously performed a leading role in his Tony-winning production of In the Heights.
