In his introduction to The Light Between Us: The Work of Vincent Peters, the author Jochen Siemens says of Peters' pictures of Hollywood stars that “rather than questioning his subjects' choices and forcing them into even more artifice, he allows their tensed muscles of self-control to relax.” Certainly the portraits are more intimate than run-of-the-mill celebrity photography, and feel both modern, but also artifully, classically composed, too. In color, but most especially black-and-white, the pictures have a glamour and regalness to them, recalling the Golden Age of Hollywood. “I photograph the Hollywood starlet on a bed exactly how I used to take photos of my girlfriend on a bed,” says Peters.
