A newly-named dinosaur described in an article published Thursday in Current Biology was a close relative of Triceratops. The Regaliceratops peterhewsi (discovered in 2005 by geologist Peter Hews in Alberta, Canada) bears horns that have earned it the nickname “Hellboy.” It had a nose horn longer than Triceratops’s, two small horns above its eyes, and a frill-like set of large pentagonal plates atop its head like a crown. It probably lived during the Late Cretaceous period, 65 to 100 million years ago.
