Apple had a massive opening weekend with its new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, with the company selling 10 million units of the new and bigger devices. That was up from the 9 million iPhones Apple sold last year when it introduced the previous generation of the hugely popular devices. Momentum from the strong weekend is projected to carry the company through to record sales during the holiday quarter. Analysts predict Apple will sell anywhere from 55 million to 60 million iPhones during the holiday season, compared with 51 million in the same period last year. The iPhone remains Apple's bestselling product by far, accounting for 70 percent of its profit. Experts say the strong results demonstrate consumer demand for bigger phone screens.
