New Orleans Cops Charged in Brutal Killing

Shocking

Five officers allegedly shot, burned man after Katrina.

Even as New Orleans fights to stay afloat during the worst oil spill in U.S. history, the city is still dealing with the aftermath of Katrina. On Friday, five current and former New Orleans police officers were charged in the shooting and burning of a man in the days after the devastating hurricane. After being shot elsewhere, Henry Glover was brought to a temporary police station for help—at which point, a police officer allegedly drove off in Glover’s car, with the injured man in the back seat. Glover’s burned body was later found in the charred car, which ended up on a levee near a police station. Officers face fines and imprisonment, as well as a civil suit filed by the mother of the victim’s son.
