Though several imprints are closing, there’s hope for the publishing industry ahead. The Financial Times has just opened a new Science imprint, which is timed with what editors think is an upswing in interest with life sciences. They’re aiming to publish 40 to 50 books science books in the next 5 years, in both the consumer and professional areas of science. “There's so much money and new knowledge and interest floating around that it seemed like a no-brainer,” the FT Press’s Tim Moore said.
