A New York City police officer was busted this week for allegedly selling marijuana in Brooklyn, police said. Gilberto Mercedes, 42, was busted on Friday for allegedly selling “a quantity of marijuana” in Bushwick, Brooklyn, authorities said. Mercedes was charged with criminal sale of marijuana and criminal possession of marijuana, and was suspended without pay following the incident, police said. He was also charged with an endangering the welfare of a child charge—but it wasn’t immediately clear if a minor was with him at the time of the sale. Mercedes, who is a police officer the Bronx, has been with the NYPD for 14 years, police said.
