New York Attorney General, Eric Schneiderman has sued Harvey Weinstein, his brother, and the Weinstein Company for allegedly establishing a hostile work environment with “pervasive sexual harassment.” Schneiderman’s lawsuit aims to collect financial penalties, restitution for the identified alleged victims, a court order releasing women from their nondisclosure agreements, and court oversight for company settlements. The suit comes just as Weinstein was looking to sell his company to Maria Contreras-Sweet, a former Obama administration official, for $500 million and has the potential to delay the sale from going forward. The sale reportedly fell apart on Sunday due to "too much uncertainty for the deal to go ahead."
