The suspected Christchurch mosque attacker will face 50 charges of murder and 39 of attempted murder at his second court appearance, according to New Zealand police. Officials initially filed one representative murder charge against 28-year-old Australian Brenton Harrison Tarrant. He’ll hear the new charges at a short hearing on Friday, but won’t be required to enter a plea, according to the Associated Press. Tarrant’s previous appearance was on the day after the attacks at the Christchurch District Court, but his case has now been moved to the High Court. The suspect has reportedly been moved to a high-security prison in Auckland. “At this time, he has no access to television, radio, or newspapers and no approved visitors,” New Zealand’s Department of Corrections said in a statement. It’s believed that Tarrant wants to represent himself in court.
