Four congressional-campaign committees or political-action committees received funds from a PAC of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. in June, as the phone-hacking scandal’s true influence began spreading in Britain. Newly filed campaign documents found that a leadership PAC called the Good Fund—sponsored by Rep. Bob Goodlatte, a Republican from Virginia—received at least $3,000 from the News America/Fox political-action committee, News Corp.’s American subsidiary. The Effective Leadership PAC and Rep. Dennis Ross each received $1,000, and Rep. John Dingell received $500 from the same group. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which sponsors a “Fact Check Fox” campaign critical of Fox News, has also given back $15,000 it received from News International/Fox PAC in late June.
